Hypotheses Testing: Poisson versus Self-correcting

چکیده
We consider the problem of hypotheses testing with the basic simple hypothesis: observed sequence of points corresponds to stationary Poisson process with known intensity against a composite one-sided parametric alternative that this is a self-correcting point process. The underlying family of measures is locally asymptotically quadratic and we describe the behavior of score function, likelihood ratio and Wald tests in the asymptotics of large samples. The results of numerical simulations are presented. AMS 1991 Classification: 62M05.

We consider the problem of hypotheses testing with the basic simple hypothesis: observed sequence of points corresponds to stationary Poisson process with known intensity. The alternatives are stationary self-exciting point processes. We consider one-sided parametric and one-sided nonparametric composite alternatives and construct locally asymptotically uniformly most powerful tests. The result...
متن کاملRedhyte: Towards a Self-diagnosing, Self-correcting, and Helpful Analytic Platform
We present a platform named Redhyte, short for an interactive platform for “Rapid exploration of data and hypothesis testing”. Redhyte aims to augment the conventional statistical hypothesis testing framework with data-mining techniques in a bid for more wholesome and efficient hypothesis testing. The platform is self-diagnosing (it can detect whether the user is doing a valid statistical test)...
متن کاملObjective Bayes testing of Poisson versus inflated Poisson models
The Poisson distribution is often used as a standard probability model for data involving counts. Quite often, however, such datasets are not well fit by a Poisson model because they contain more zero counts than are compatible with the Poisson model. For these situations, a zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) distribution is often proposed. This article addresses testing a Poisson versus a ZIP model, ...
متن کاملOn Rescaled Poisson Processes and the Brownian Bridge ∗
The process obtained by rescaling a homogeneous Poisson process by the maximum likelihood estimate of its intensity is shown to have surprisingly strong self-correcting behavior. Formulas for the conditional intensity and moments of the rescaled Poisson process are derived, and its behavior is demonstrated using simulations. Relationships to the Brownian Bridge are explored, and implications fo...
